Home \ Blogs \ Troubleshooting Linksys RE1000 Setup Issues: Simple Fixes That Work

Have you had any trouble setting up the Linksys RE1000? Very common problems include weak signals or blinking LEDs, or the extender not able to access the main router. For starters, make sure the RE1000 is within range of your Wi-Fi signal; also be sure to check if you are typing in the correct SSID name and password. If it is still not set up, then try resetting it by a 10-second press on the reset button. Also, check if your firmware is up-to-date. Access the customization webpage through your browser by using the IP address '192.168.1.1'; follow the procedure given on the screen. With these minor fixes, your Linksys RE1000 Setup should be ready to go.

If you are facing the RE1000 setup problem, start by setting the extender halfway between your router and the area with a weak signal. Plug it in and wait for the power light to turn solid. If setup fails, then reset your device by pressing the reset button for about 10 seconds. Confirm the router's Wi-Fi is up and broadcasting on the 2.4 GHz band, since the RE1000 does not support 5GHz. You will have to access the setup page via a browser through "192.168.1.1" or use the setup from the CD if you have one. To have a smooth install, turn your firewall off temporarily and update your firmware if you haven't done so already.
